From July 28th to August 7th, 2024, 3 young people from Austria participated in a transnational exchange in Sremski Karlovci in Serbia involving together 18 youngsters as part of the Green Up Development project.

The topic of the transnational exchange was Audio-video production and youngsters had a chance to participate in a week-long training learning various skills such as movie production, editing, using video effect and much more! All these skills contribute to the general aim of the Green Up Development project in that after the training, participants will be able to use them when developing their local projects and thus contributing to environmental protection

Transnational exchange Overview

The exchange was a comprehensive journey designed to boost team building and develop key competencies through the medium of video production. Participants began by getting to know each other and engaging in team-building activities, followed by an introduction to the eight key competencies and Youthpass. The program emphasised the importance of video as a dominant medium, incorporating daily reflections to reinforce learning. Participants became familiarised with Adobe Premiere, including its interface and various applications in video production. Practical assignments, such as fieldwork to capture videos and the import, organisation, and basic editing of video content, were conducted. The curriculum included theoretical input and exercises on advanced editing techniques like transitions, trimming, overwrite, replace edits, and multi-cam editing, culminating in practical video assignments. The program also covered titles, motion graphics, compositing, color correction, sound settings, video effects, exporting, and codecs. A study visit to an audio-video production company provided industry insights, complemented by free time in the city. An introduction to Adobe After Effects enabled participants to create animated text and videos for social networks. Finally, participants prepared their Youthpass certificates, tested their gained knowledge, and underwent a final evaluation to ensure a holistic and enriching experience.

What Participants Gained

  • Technical Skills: Mastered the basics of video production, including scripting, storyboarding, filming, and editing in Premiere Pro.
  • Storytelling: Learned how to create compelling narratives that engage and resonate with audiences.
  • Environmental Advocacy: Applied new video production skills to highlight environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Worked with peers from different countries, exchanging ideas and collaborating on creative projects.
  • Networking Opportunities: Built connections with young environmental advocates and industry professionals.
  • Project Funding: Gained insights into securing funding for local environmental projects.

What will follow now?

Upon completing the training, participants will be responsible for organising a series of multiplier activities within their local communities, engaging other community members (such as neighbors, youth, seniors, friends, and relatives) as well as other interested stakeholders. For these activities, each participant, in their role as a “multiplier,” will receive a modest yet adequate grant based on the proposal they submitted to cover the logistical and administrative costs. This approach enables them to apply their newly gained knowledge and skills on Sustainable Development, empowering young people to take initiative and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
