In 2023, promoting family sports and games has been one of our main priorities. Through the BONTS project – “Building Family Bonds through Sports”, we have organised international training sessions for youth workers and sport trainers. Our goal is to create adapted sports activities that are inclusive for family members of all ages. Thanks to BONTS, we are fostering stronger family connections and encouraging a healthier, more active lifestyle for everyone.

Over the course of a few months, we have successfully organised Intergenerational Sport Labs for youth workers, educators, sport instructors and trainers in Serbia and Croatia. During these events, professionals joined forces and worked on adapting existing sports and games and tailor them to needs of families, taking into consideration their age, skills, background, and physical fitness.

While in Niš, Serbia, teams from Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus and Bulgaria participated in workshops with the local families, testing and adapting various sports and activities such as yoga, football, swimming and traditional games. These sessions with the families proved to be very useful in order to collect their feedback and tailor our activities to the current demand of both younger and more senior family members.

The second Sports Lab took place in Zagreb, Croatia, where we proceed with another round of testing family sport events and developing the main project results, the BONTS Handbook – a collection of adapted sport activities for families, youth workers and sport trainers.
