Call for Participants from Austria – Join the “Food for Thought” Project!

From March 16–22, 2025, five young people from Austria traveled to Clermont-Ferrand, France, to take part in the Food for Thought training, an Erasmus+ initiative focused on food security. Together with participants from France and Italy, they explored innovative ways to address local food challenges, working collaboratively to develop creative and sustainable solutions.

A Week of Learning and Collaboration

During the five-day training, participants engaged in interactive workshops, focus groups, and discussions on key food security topics. They explored issues such as access to fresh food, sustainable food systems, and reducing organic waste. Through hands-on activities, they learned how to analyze surveys, assess community needs, and implement practical solutions. Working in international teams, they also developed project ideas that could make a real impact in their local communities.

Building Skills for the Future

Beyond gaining deeper insights into food security, participants strengthened essential skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and project design. They practiced problem-solving techniques, refined their ability to communicate ideas effectively, and received guidance on turning their concepts into actionable projects. The experience not only equipped them with valuable tools but also fostered cross-cultural connections and collaborative spirit.

What’s Next?

The journey doesn’t end in Clermont-Ferrand! As the final phase of the Food for Thought project, participants from the previous stages will reunite in Vienna for an in-depth follow-up. This meeting will serve as a space to exchange insights on their project implementation, discussing both challenges faced and successes achieved.

Through collective analysis, experience sharing, and a co-creation process, participants will develop a practical toolkit on “How to Design Your Own Food Security or Community Resilience Project in Times of Crisis.” This resource will not only support young people across the EU who wish to launch similar initiatives but will also inspire other youth groups to take action and create impactful solutions in their own communities.
