The final conference of the Sustainable and Inclusive Access to Sport Practice (SIASP) project took place as part of the Cyklomestá Conference in Trnava, Slovakia on 12.-13. February 2025. Over two days, we had the opportunity to engage with experts, share our project outcomes, and explore best practices in sustainable and inclusive mobility while hostel by our partner Cyklokoalícia.

SIASP Project Highlights

During the conference, we presented key outcomes of the SIASP project, including:

  • Report on the Benefits of Inclusive and Accessible Sport Facilities & Services – A comprehensive study analyzing how sport infrastructure can be made more accessible for all.
  • A Sneak Peek into Our Second Publication – A forthcoming guide on community-driven sport facilities, showcasing models that empower local communities to create sustainable and inclusive sport spaces.

Key Conference Takeaways

The conference featured insightful discussions on various aspects of cycling infrastructure and mobility, including innovative bicycle playgrounds in Austria designed to help children develop cycling skills, as well as Kidical Masses in Vienna and Bratislava, which advocate for child-friendly urban spaces through organized bike rides. We also explored Trnava’s advancements in bike-sharing programs and cycling infrastructure development, along with winter cycling strategies from Oulu, Finland, presented by our partners at the Winter Cycling Federation. Additionally, we examined the increasing role of cargo bikes in urban transport, highlighting their potential to replace car trips for families and businesses. The conference wrapped up with a cycling tour showcasing good practices in Trnava’s cycling infrastructure.

Why This Matters

The SIASP project has aimed to bridge the gap between sports, mobility, and inclusivity by highlighting best practices and advocating for more accessible, community-driven sport facilities. Our participation in the Cyklomestá Conference allowed us to share knowledge, connect with like-minded stakeholders, and learn from innovative approaches to urban mobility and sustainable sport infrastructure.

What’s Next?

With the SIASP project coming to an end, we are excited to share our final outputs, including the full report and community-driven sport facilities guide, which will soon be available for download. Stay tuned for updates and future initiatives promoting inclusive and sustainable access to sports!
