Looking for a fun and active way to spend time with your family while exploring the beautiful Croatian coast? Join us for the Nordic Walking Family Experience, a 3-day mobility designed for families who want to be part of an exciting outdoor adventure! Set on the stunning island of Krk, Croatia, this event combines Nordic Walking, outdoor games, and cross-cultural exchanges to promote active family time. Whether you’re new to Nordic Walking or already enjoy it, this experience will provide fresh ideas, engaging activities, and a chance to connect with other like-minded families.

Who Can Join?

We are looking for participants from Austria—families who are eager to explore Nordic Walking (NW) sports activities in a fun and engaging environment. Each family must include at least one adult and one child. Minimum age for participating children is 10 years old as this age is required for participation in the Nordic walking activities and programme. While beginners are welcome, participants should be able to physically engage in Nordic Walking. If someone is unable to participate due to physical limitations, we encourage them to reconsider joining, as the activities require a certain level of mobility.

What to Expect?

During this 3-day international mobility, families will have the unique opportunity to test and refine a set of Nordic Walking activities developed in our project handbook. In collaboration with sports instructors, participants will actively shape and improve these activities while enjoying the beautiful outdoor setting of Krk Island.

Key highlights of the mobility:
✔ Daily Nordic Walking sessions tailored to different skill levels
✔ Fun non-formal education activities and outdoor games
✔ Cross-cultural exchange with families from other countries
✔ Hands-on experience in co-creating family-friendly sports activities
✔ Time to relax, explore, and connect with nature

Accommodation & Venue

Participants will be accommodated at Vila Rosa in the town of Punat, a comfortable and family-friendly space offering shared family rooms, essential amenities, and a relaxing atmosphere. The venue is ideally located to support our outdoor activities, with easy access to scenic walking routes and natural landscapes within few minutes from the sea coast.

Travel Arrangements

To ensure smooth travel, participants are encouraged to travel together by car or minivan. Specific arrangements will be made at a later stage of preparation.

Important travel details:

  • Participants typically book their own transport.
  • After submitting travel documents and receipts, expenses will be reimbursed within the agreed budget. (More details on our reimbursement policy: here)

Follow-Up Activity & Reimbursement

As part of the mobility, participating families will be required to organise a local follow-up event between July and December 2025. This event must engage at least 12 participants, including the family members themselves, and aim to promote Nordic Walking within their community using the skills and activities learned during the mobility.

During the 3-day mobility in Croatia, families will also receive training to become local Nordic Walking promoters, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead their own activities. Each participating family will also receive their own set of Nordic Walking poles as a gift to support their continued engagement.

Please note: Reimbursement of travel expenses will be completed only after the successful organisation and reporting of this follow-up event.
