The SportWay project aims to promote inclusive sports events that bring together participants from all stages of life, regardless of background or ability. It focuses on raising awareness about sports voluntarism and actively involving volunteers from disadvantaged groups, including those with special needs, school drop-outs, the elderly, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Part of our project is organisation of inclusive sports events in Slovenia, Italy and Austria, where we put great emphasis on fair play and broad participation of all people from the local communities. Our first event was organised in September 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, inviting local schools and sport clubs to participate in various workshops and exercises designed for both children, adults and people with special needs who could all play together no matter their difference. Slovenian sport festival Igraj se z mano has a long history of 17 years, always bringing together all people from the community to play sports!

Part of the SportWay project is also creation of practical guidelines for organising inclusive sports events and to establish a fair play checklist to enhance event quality and accessibility.

Sport event in Italy (May 2025)

The next major event in the SportWay project is the 2nd inclusive sport event, scheduled for May 16-17, 2025, in Possagno, Italy. This marks the 5th edition of the 6InSuperAbile initiative, organised by our Italian partners, which aims to unite disabled athletes and members of the community for a celebration of sports and games.

Sport event in Austria (September 2025)

The last planned event is scheduled to take place in Vienna, Austria in September 2025 during the European Week of Sport, and similarly as previous events, our main goal will be to create an opportunity for people of all backgrounds and skills to come together and enjoy inclusive sports and games.

SportWay Partnership

The partnership brings together organisations from Slovenia, Austria, and Italy, all working together to advance the project’s goals. By collaborating across borders, the project envisions making inclusive sports a staple feature of the European Week of Sport across the EU, ensuring that sports are accessible to everyone. Our partners from the Special Education Center Janez and Ex Allievi Cavanis bring valuable expertise in organising large-scale sports events tailored to people with special needs. Meanwhile, our strength lies in connecting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including migrants and refugees in Austria.
